If a breast mass is palpated, perform breast ultrasound.

Aspirate ultrasound-confirmed masses or cysts using fine-needle method (FNA).

Send samples to the lab for cytologic diagnosis of cyst aspirates or cells.

If any tests are abnormal, or if the patient requests, add further imaging such as mammography or breast MRI, as indicated.

The thermographic monitoring process for a high-risk case:

Annual thermography and manual breast exam starting age 21

Breast ultrasound to detect and assess any existing mass found on exam
